Payments

How does payment from a Wot to a Jabber work?

When you sign up as a Jabber you are entitled to set your fees for speaking at whatever level you like, including for free. This is publicly viewable.

But all transactions involving fees passing between Wots and Jabbers are private and nothing to do with Jabberwot. No commission is paid to Jabberwot.

If you both decide to meet online, agree for the Wot to pay the Jabber immediately after the discussion, via PayPal or Setcom and the payment will be more or less instant with an email alert sent to the Jabber. If you decide to meet face-to-face, then agree on a cash payment at the end of the discussion.

IMPORTANT: Whenever possible a Wot must pay a Jabber immediately after a conversation and both must agree the method of payment before the conversation.

Key Question: Do you have a bank account?

This advice is given in good faith but Jabberwot does not accept any liability for its use.

Answer: If BOTH of you have a bank account   In order of consideration.
1st: Are you BOTH in a PayPal or Setcom country? PayPal tends to be northern hemisphere and Setcom southern. Register at www.paypal.com or www.setcom.com
Methods to pay someone 2nd: If not, is the sender in a Postal Order Providing Country? AND is the receiver in a Postal Order encashing country? AND is the sum to be sent less than about US $260 (associated commission US $17) THEN send crossed postal orders and use 'Airsure' insurance.
3rd: If more than US $260 then consider a Bankers Draft (or possibly an Electronic Transfer) but check commissions.

Answer: If ONE or NEITHER of you have a bank account.
  In order of consideration.
1st: Consider, is the sender in a Postal Order Providing Country? AND is the receiver in a Postal Order encashing country? AND is the sum to be sent less than about US $260 (associated commission US $17) THEN send crossed postal orders and use 'Airsure' insurance.
2nd: If both sender and receiver feel they have reliable postal systems, a sum of up to US $50 in cash may be insured and sent by 'Airsure' as 'personal documents' or similar vague description, but confirm the level of insurance for Airsure in your country is US $50.
3rd: Western Union charge up to 20% commission and are therefore quite expensive.
Hot Tip:-

If you are unable to open an account in your own country, but are able to do so when studying or travelling abroad in a Pay Pal country, do so, as Pay Pal now have a VISA card that can access your cash outside Pay Pal countries. See www.paypal.com
