Business, Products and Services → Search Engine Optimisation (SEO)
I can help you to understand how people are looking for your products and services online, and how you can respond most effectively to their demand.
Search Engine Optimisation not about 'top 10 ranking in Google for our keywords' - or at least it shouldn't be. It's about making Search work for your website as an effective marketing channel - bringing in people from Google and other search engines who are asking for what you can offer.
The work typically is divided into three parts: firstly, I make sure that the material on your website is not confusing or hidden to Google. Secondly, I help you to understand the patterns of demand within the search queries people use to find your products or services, and help you to develop content that will respond directly to those patterns of demand. Thirdly, I help you to develop the authority and reputation of your website and its content.
I have worked in the field of search engine optimisation for over five years, and my book, co-authored with Steve Johnston, on how to make Google love your website, will be published by Random House this spring.

Business, Products and Services → Hitwise consultancy
Do you have an account with Hitwise? Hitwise is without doubt the most comprehensive, and detailed dataset describing the actions on a week by week basis of between 35% and 50% of all web users in the UK.
This data, used effectively, is incredibly valuable to a business. It can tell you who is visiting your competitors, the search terms they use, the size of market demand and what proportion of that market you are attaining.
Hitwise data is not for the faint hearted, however. The tools provided by Hitwise barely scrape the surface of the data!
I am an experienced analyst of Hitwise data (clients include the BBC and more), with my own analysis tools. I can help you to turn insights derived from Hitwise data into valuable, measurable business benefits.
